Vigilance & Intercession: Defending What God Is Building
On Day 35 of our 52-day journey of Debt Deliverance and Rebuilding Financial Walls, the Lord is shifting our focus from simply building to defending what He is building.
There is a posture and a positioning for the watchman. Gatehouses are built at the front, elevated and detached, so the watchman can see clearly and respond quickly. You cannot effectively guard from inside the house. You must take your place on the wall.
Isaiah 62:6 declares that God has set watchmen on the walls who shall never hold their peace day or night. It is an anomaly for a watchman to sleep while destiny is under attack. If the enemy gains an inroad into our finances, families, or destinies on our watch, we have failed in our assignment.
Today we presented ourselves afresh as watchmen — over the walls of our families, finances, destinies, and children. We asked God to enlist us, equip us, and post us on the tower with the grace to remain alert day and night.
Watchmen need open eyes.
Habakkuk 2:1 says, “I will stand my watch and see…”
We prayed for far sight, foresight, and insight — the ability to see enemy advances (every Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem) from afar, to discern hidden breaches and plans, and to understand what God is saying through dreams and visions. Just as Elisha prayed for his servant’s eyes to be opened, we asked the Lord to open ours so we can see the hosts of heaven surrounding us.
Ezekiel 33:7 reminds us that the watchman must hear the word from God’s mouth and warn. When we see encroachment, wasters, or usurpers charging against what God is building, we must raise the alarm in prayer and not keep silent. As we cry out, God has promised to hear, heed, and come to our aid.
We are human and need rest, yet the work of a watchman is 24 hours. The beautiful truth is that the Keeper of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121). While we rest, angels take over. God can release the watchman grace so that our walls never have an unguarded moment.
We decreed security over every gate — north, south, east, and west — declaring that as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds us (Psalm 125). No more breaches. Every angle is covered.

Building the wall is only half the assignment. Defending it through vigilance and intercession is the other half. Rise up. Take your post. Keep your eyes open. Raise the alarm when necessary. Trust the One who never sleeps to cover you when you rest.
This is a month of increase and harvest. May the Lord open our eyes as watchmen to see exactly where the increase will come from so that debts are paid and every need is met.
Keep building. Keep watching. Keep interceding.
The wall stands, and the watchmen stand.
