Day 36 – Beams of Cedar: Building with Incorruptible Materials That Last
On Day 36 of our 52-day journey of Debt Deliverance and Rebuilding Financial Walls, the Holy Spirit is turning our attention to something critical: the quality of the materials we are building with.
It is not enough to be builders. It is not enough to be watchmen. God is interested in the whole work — and that includes using materials that will stand the test of time.
In Nehemiah 3:3 we read that the sons of Hassenaah built the Fish Gate (the gate of economy). They laid its beams and hung its doors with bolts and bars. Those beams were cedar.
Cedar of Lebanon was the premium material of the ancient world — insect-proof, weatherproof, and fragrant. Termites cannot eat it. Rain and sun cannot destroy its integrity. When cut, it releases a beautiful aroma.
God is saying to us today: “I want to build your life, your finances, your family, and your destiny with cedar-like materials — materials that last.”
What are these incorruptible materials?
- The Word of God
It lives and abides forever (1 Peter 1:23). Nothing can corrupt it or overcome it. Hide it in your heart (Psalm 119:11). - Integrity
The one who walks with integrity walks securely (Proverbs 10:9). True integrity shows when no one is watching. - Genuine Faith
Faith that is more precious than gold and is tested by fire yet remains (1 Peter 1:7). Even mustard-seed faith moves mountains. - Love
Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8). Offense, bitterness, and anger are termites. Remove them so they do not destroy the work.
Anything less — comparison, people-pleasing, copying other people’s templates, running without depth — is mud-brick construction. It is cheap and fast, but it will collapse under pressure (Luke 6:49; 1 Corinthians 3:12-15).
Speed without depth leads to collapse. God is calling us to pause, inspect our materials, and deliberately choose the incorruptible.
When pressure comes (and it will), may the fragrance of Christ be released from our lives (2 Corinthians 2:15). May what God is building in us this season outlive us and stand for generations.
Today, ask the Lord to burn away every corruptible material and to lay strong cedar beams in your life, your finances, and the works of your hands. Build with what lasts.
