How To Stay Spiritually-fit

How To Stay Spiritually-fit

Dear friend,

Welcome to the first weekend of the phenomenal Year 2023. Know it or not, this is the year you’ve actually been waiting for and I’m here to help you see it!

For most who are super busy during the working week, the weekend is the time where they unwind and get other stuff done. Some take out time to do physical bodily exercise by going to the gym or just taking a walk or run, some use this time of week to get their laundry done and do spring cleanings of their homes and spaces. Many do not realize the need to also maximize this time to get their spiritual tanks filled! The weekend can also be used to become spiritually-fit! This in my intent in getting this across to you.

Permit me to share with you 6 Tips that can help you this first weekend of 2023. If you like, you can engage one tip per weekend (talking about taking bite-size plunges for beginners) or if you are one who can multitask (meaning you are matured in your walk but need subtle reminders) you may revamp your spiritual repertoire with these tips:

1. Cultivate A Particular Time Habit for Prayers And the Word

“O GOD, You are my God; Early will I seek You” Psalm 63:1a, NKJV

As you engage in this activity this weekend, give serious thought to the time of day that would work for you to have a committed and consistent time of daily communing and fellowshipping with your Maker and Father via prayers and taking in the Word. THIS IS A PRIORITY! You can also reminisce and recall what may have worked for you in the past. However, note that your seasons are constantly changing so make your decision based on the season of life you are presently in.

2. Write Down Your Prayer Requests and Visualize Your Answer

“You who answers prayer, all of humanity comes before you with their requests.” Psalms 65:‬2 TPT

Journalling and penning down your God-thoughts should be an integral part of building your spiritual muscles to becoming spiritually-fit! Why? It is the habit of praying people! There is a need for you to be able to track your thoughts when you are in conversation with GOD. Just imagine if the bible patriarchs and matriarchs of old didn’t leave anything for us to read! Writing/Journaling helps you visualize. It helps you see and document possibilities! It helps you foresee even the future. Writing in your moments with GOD helps you keep track of what He is doing in, with and for you. You see clearly and are able to track your progress.

3. Get (A) Reliable Prayer Partner(s)

“Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?” Amos 3:3 NLT

On the journey of life, you need company, you need support, you need the right people and getting a reliable (trustworthy, God-loving and God-fearing) prayer partner who is committed to a spiritually enriching walk with GOD is a blessing you must ask GOD for this new year if you haven’t got one already. The goal of this relationship is an iron sharpening iron outlook. Depending on the number of persons you commit to in this relationship, you must both/all be going in the same direction spiritually and be willing to prop each other up when needed.

4. Give GOD the Credit And Praise Him for Answered Prayers

“Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to GOD a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.” Hebrews 13:15 AMPC

In your quest to stay Spiritually-fit in 2023, gratitude, appreciation, thanksgiving, praises and overall acknowledgement of GOD is key! You must remember that GOD never wants to share His glory with anyone. He loves to be acknowledged and appreciated. This way, He is encouraged to outdo Himself. He inhabits the praises of His children hence in building your spiritual muscles and staying spiritually-fit, gratitude must be extended to GOD on a daily and constant basis. Never take GOD’s magnanimity for granted and don’t get this tip twisted as it’s a critical mass in you staying spiritually fit. Take a cue from the story of the 10 lepers in Luke 17:11-19 and be enriched with a wholesome life.

5. Get A Spiritual Coach That Inspires And Can Work With You

“He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.” Colossians 1:28

Eyes that look are many and common but eyes that see are few and rare, says a popular quote. Many underscore the need to have a Spiritual Coach who can help you navigate faster and reach the answers that already exist on your inside. One of the things you should think actively about accomplishing is getting a Spiritual Coach who will help you reach your answers. 2023 is not that year that you should find yourself spiritually floundering. It is the year to get your act together and have a spiritual A-game! The Coach’s role is not to tell you what to do, rather he/she will help your journey of maturity and deliver you to the point where you are able to make godly and confident decisions. Find one that inspires and is willing to work with you.

6. Share Your Testimonies To Encourage Others

For the testimony of JESUS is the Spirit of prophecy. Revelation 19:10c

Testimonies are the testaments of GOD’s doing in your life and must be shared because they have the potential and ability for replication. As you share GOD’s doings and dealings with you, you make room for more to happen for you. In 2023, make giving  testimonials an active part of your life. Listen to testimonies from others too. This way, your faith is bolstered and you can see possibilities of what GOD is able to do while others too take a cue from yours. I see you recording many testimonials of GOD’s goodness to you and all yours.

Finally friend, in 2023, be deliberate about your spiritual walk and growth. Your relationship with GOD cannot be left to chance. You must form daily habits that will grow and mature you. You must build your spiritual muscle. A new you, spiritually stronger than who you are now, must emerge so help you GOD!
